The largest we've done is a 4 stack of 8k Radians and a 6 stack of Sunny Islands with the Mutlicluster box. They both have worked fine and there are advantages to each approach.
An advantage to a multicluster approach is that you can have smaller and segmented battery banks that don't require custom DC bussing. Each cluster master manages the battery bank. The solar input can go straight into the multicluster box since AC coupling works very well with SMA equipment. Things get very busy with a Radian system quickly. We had to use a custom bussing system to combine the battery banks at around 1500A and miles of 4/0 cable to feed more bussing for the solar input and Radian connection. Regarding getting the AC in and out of the Radian, we opted to use dedicated panelboards for both the input and the output with double pole 60A breakers feeding in and out of each Radian. It's also a good idea to have a bypass switch upstream of the AC input panelboard that can bypass the system if needed. Both of these systems worked well but took a lot of planning for the spatial layout and took a lot of wall space, much more than we initially thought. Good Luck and let us know which approach you take. On Wed, Sep 9, 2020 at 10:20 PM frenergy <[email protected]> wrote: > OK, I'll bite. I use SMA and Outback almost exclusively.
