[Reactor For CF] Noob Setup problem

i'm trying to set up Reactor to work with MG, followed (I thought) doug's directions but keep getting the following error:

The argument OBJECTCONFIG passed to function setObjectConfig() is not of type xml.

I've dumped objectconfig and it looks like xml to me.  Has anybody run into this problem or point me in the right direction?  i'm stumped right now.
