What's the assembler written in?  Is this coldfusion?  Compiled
ActionScript?  Uncompiled ActionScript? I have no context to know how hard
something like that might be...

That's just an option in the wizard. If you want to use FDS, you must
generate bean + DAO + assembler.

The only way to use a custom persistence layer would be to write /
generate a custom assembler that knew how to manipulate the custom
persistence layer.
