Mike, do you want an advice? Try to make your dev and prd systems as similar as 
possible so this kind of issues can be handle in the dev environment. In a long 
run, it will spare you some time.

No. i cant restart.  not unless i am really desperate.

What i might do is delete everything,  put up a simple html file called 
reactor.cfm to replace all the cached stuff and then load it up again .

IT works on my home system.  It worked earlier today, so i know it can work if 
i reset it back to what it was earlier.  So I think i'll wipe the slate and 
start again from the beginning.

thanks anyway for your help João.  At least I know it's not something 
blindingly obvious that i've missed
