Thanks for the advice folks.

I already have the reactor folder (/reactor) in the web root, as that
seems to be the general advice on this list. I presume this means I can
keep the same project name?

I do have data folder in a mapping though i.e. the <mapping
value="/MyApplicationData" /> so that it's stored outside the webroot. I
was wondering if this would be better moved to the webroot and it's
mapping deleted?

Nope, assuming the DB is the same

It may work when the number of sites is small, or you need a cast-iron 
guaranty it wont interfere.

Yes, you should, it's used for creating a directory and there for class
name 
(look at what your project-local 'data' files inherit from).
This means your 'test' site 'data' CFCs will be slightly different.
You'll 
have to manage this carefully unless you go with local /reactor's, I
think.

We've got a shared /reactor mapping for all the applications, and make
sure to 
set different project/dsn settings.
But we don't have multiple copies of the same app on the same server.
