This sound like a reasonable approach however is there a particular reason
to use AOP for this? Unless I am missing something obvious, can't we just
modify the reactor project's xsl file to add such transformation function to
our Gateway objects.

Yeah, like that :-)
To be more specific you need to have them in the CFC that GetMetaData()
gets
called on because this method doesn't look up the inheritance chain.
