Should we switch to git?

When I set up the project site, I used subversion. But I'd really like for 
other interested parties to work together more easily, and I think "git" would 
be better suited to helping us get there.  We could also switch off SF, but I 
suspect a switch to "git" would be enough.

Alan Manuel Gloria, in particular: Would that be okay?  I want to pull your 
code into the repository, and work on it together, and I think "git" would make 
that easier to do.

I set up the project and posted specs and code years ago to try to get people 
to accept the idea.  Then my darn PhD got in the way (!)... but now that is 
done.  And I am really excited that AMG is looking at using this in a project. 
I think it's time to make a push to create a single spec/test cases/strong 
implementation that people can depend on.
