My project is similar in size. From RB 1.0 to 4.5 I upgraded as soon as it came out. After the 4.5, I changed to upgrading at the end of the cycle, and skipping some, for example the 5.0 series, which I have but never used. At present, my strategy is to avoid anything newer than 5.5 for as long as I can. Got 2005 but I'm not using it. The only reason for me to update right now, is to be able to compile for Intel Macs, whenever that occurs. I guess the advise is to consider carefully if you have something you desperately need i the newer version.

Upgrade your hardware. That is memory, CPU, disk and probably your
screen size. Oh, and don't forget to increase the length of your
keyboard's cable.

No seriously. You probably came across a few of my older threads about
these problems with large project files. I have little hope that REAL
is going to fix these problems anytime in the near future (except bugs
like growing file sizes).

IMHO there are probably a lot of reasons they are making RB 200x what
it is today. In many aspects its a great app, no question. But it has
to be usable and not bloated, for big projects (>3-4 MB) it's simply
not possible to work efficent. Right now I'm still stuck with 5.5.5
(which is not being updated anymore), and I'm scared to make the move
to 2006 since we had a few test drives on this already.

Hi List:

I have recently upgraded to RB2006r1 from RB 5.5. After several days
of finding the cause of Failed Assertion crashes and fixing those, I
finally was able to get my app to compile. During this process, I
found many things that totally surprised me...Please Note:
