Well that's true, but consider Rb started life as a one man show. RS does listen, but they do tend to do things in their own, stubborn, sweet way. For YEARS people have been asking for one hold on a new feature version to properly iron out bugs. If they did only one release for one calendar year, maybe they would have a chance to sort everybody's complaints out.

I get the feeling that if they keep changing things they hope bugs will disappear...

I know they have to keep up to date with stuff, but they really should fix things first, like the rest of us have to do ! When you see people here who have been waiting years for a bug fix (and some of those I remember from when I was last on this list !) then something is not quite right.

This has been happening all along. First from v1 > v2 it was the new team of programmers getting to grips with the code, then it was proper Windows compiling, then it was Carbon, a new compiler, a Windows IDE, Linux, Rb MwRb, Cocoa, now it's UB, and tomorrow it will be Vista for Windows. Sure Apple left footed everyone by announcing the developer transition prog only a week before releasing MacIntels, but everyone's in the same boat.

Personally, I stopped using Rb when they were developing the Win IDE, ' cos they just seemed to ignore all the bugs in the Mac version. It's disappointing to see that a couple of years later, and with more programmers on board, things haven't changed.

It's still a great product, and pretty much the only game in town for x-platform, but it really is only for hobbyists and not for people who earn their living from development whilst so many of these problems exist.

All people have ever been asking for is for RS to forego just one release out of their hectic roadmap to lock down some of these far from inconsequential niggles.

I think that, if done right, it will really help them give us the product we want. I think there's no point to yelling because as everyone has seen, it doesn't seem to go anywhere to tell them they suck. Because when you look at what they did give you, no one that sucks can give you this :-).
