Are you sure ? I would not give my hand for that ...

Did you do:

// Read the MouseCursor entries in the Language Reference
App.MouseCursor = Nil
Self.MouseCursor = Nil

Me.MouseCursor = ClosedHand

I am quite sure that I changed the cursor in MouseDown to GrabHand and in MouseDrag to ClosedHand and ClickHand in MouseUp (back to MouseUp)...

It was with REALbasic 5.5.5 (sure) and 10.3.x

ClosedHand means "You take a paper in your hand and close your fingers",
GrabHand means "You put your open hand in the paper to move it (before moving the piece of paper)" ClickHand means "You have only one finger 'open' to click on an entry" [the cursor you get when you put the ArrowCursor above an html link].

Has anyone had any luck in having a cursor change 'take" while doing a drag operation (and if so, how)? I'm using 2005 (Mac r4), and I can't seem to get it working. 2006 has a new drag system implemented, so I'd be interested in hearing if anyone using 2006 (my demo's expired, and I'm waiting till UB support to upgrade) has any success in doing this sort of thing.

A quick test shows that MouseCursors do not change during a drag event. Even if the mouse cursor is something other than the standard arrow before the drag, it will show a standard arrow cursor during the drag. I tested assigning to Me, Self, and App all with the same behavior.

REALbasic 2006r1, OS X 10.4.4
