OK, let me rewrite the question:
is it possible to run the REALbasic IDE (current version)... from a read/only
bootable medium ?
The question is not about booting on a CD / DVD or anything else, but to run and
work with REALbasic (located in a Memory Stick for example): open a project and
save the project with changes.
Thanks,
Emile
Boot from a CD / DVD:
Mac OS X: possible. In fact possible since the begining of Mac OS... more than
20 year ago)
Linux: yes; Live version of distro (add your prefered flavor)
Windows: yes, take the CD that comes with your computer (probably since Windows
95).

is it possible to boot on a DVD (yes) and run the REALbasic IDE (current
version)...
Yes, you would have to use GNU/Linux (maybe OSX, using the Bootdisc
program, but this only works pre 10.4), and either roll your own or use
say Knoppix or Mepis or one of the other 1000 Live Linux based distros as
a base and customise it, RB would have to write access to directories it
needs, so these would have to either in RAM or a remove server.
