I had been developing an RB 6 application using the TCPsocket for a while under Windows, with no problems, but when I just tested it under OS10.4, it threw an unhandled Nilobject exception, and would not compile. The message asked that I contact the RB folks with any details, but I have better things to do than see if I can figure out any more details, or go through RB's hoops for submitting feedback.
Hah -- best to give up on this project and go do those better things, then.
Hopefully someone at RB will see this and realize that it would be really helpful if this unhandled Nilobject exception message could be fleshed out with some indication of what part of the code is causing the problem.
It can't -- if it were an error the code were prepared to trap and thus present a more useful explanation, you wouldn't be seeing it at all.
And don't count on anybody at RS seeing this. This is a user forum; occasionally RS folks will peek in between compiles or something, but this is not a reliable way to reach them. If you don't actually have better things to do than pursue this, then the right way to do it is to contact them directly or via the feedback system, as the error dialog suggested.
