Really the XCode package is barely adequate. Slow compiler, terrible customization UI, slow file handling, ... the list goes on. Last week I was updating the kext for one of our products from ProjectBuilder to Xcode with the goal of making it a universal binary. The conversion was simple and making it UB was too (thankfully there was a technote because I defy anyone to do it without that) but the kext didn't work. Checked all of the settings and everything was fine. Turns out that there are settings in the project file that you can't edit through the IDE. In fact you need another text editor to do the changes since XCode can't edit its own project files as text. It's a sad day when I have to touch XCode. Now why do I stick with RB. Simple, quick prototyping and cross-platform capability.
