You just need a good experience of modem communication. This is a normal behaviour of the modem. You have to study the basics of chap authentication and ppp communication. So just try to search on the internet before to post. Dont wait, that we made the job for you, try by yourself to find answers to your question. Just read this and after you can ask your question. Programming is not too simple, and working with serials was an horror (i have devellop some piece of code, in RB with serials, but with basic materials). Why do you try do re-made the wheel. If you want to make that you application connect you to the network, just call windows dialer or external programs that can do that.

Emile, this call,

Serial1.Write("ATI0" + ChrB(13)+ChrB(10))

produces this answer for me.

56000

And if I might ask a question from this thread to the NUG. After I send my
name and password I get this message from the server,

Exiting shell, and starting PPP session.

This is followed by gobbledy gook,

~}#¿!}!}!} }8}!}$}%Ð}"}&} }*} } }%}&G /0}'}"}(}"ß}4~~}#¿!}!}"}
}8}!}$}%Ð}"}&} }*} } }%}&G /0}'}"}(}"ÌÜ~~}#¿!}!}#} ... etc.

I've tried at this point spawning a new instance of TCPSocket with no
results. Perhaps I need the secure, pro only Rb, version to continue?
