Btw, RB's ListBox really isn't as bad as many think. I thought it was slow, until I really concentrated on finding a solution. I compared everything I could find. I also tried to create a listbox with declares.

In the end, it came down to clever RB programming. It's now much, much faster than what I did at first. I don't know what issues you have that makes it slow though. If you send me an example project I could have a look at it... Not because I'm a better programmer, but because I've been there.

For me, the biggest lacking in REALbasic, is it's editfield.

I'm thinking of making a project, in either RB, or Cocoa.

The advantage of RB, is that it will be easier to code, and if I stick to pure RB, or my ElfData plugin, I can get it compiling on all platforms. The disadvantage is that it will look "emulated" even on the Mac, because we don't have a proper NSTextField, what with all it's inbuilt spell checking, undo, and other handy features. It's better to have an app that works on one platform than one which no one likes for all platforms.

Because this app needs to handle large amounts of text, even if it is only a "auto jump to this text here" feature... the lack of a decent editfield is really a killer problem.

RB's lack of a decent listbox is also a nuisance. NSTableView / NSOutlineView beats RB's listbox hands down everytime.

Other smaller lackings in RB's Mac interface exist, but I can work around them.

What should I do?
