Thanks for the idea...it sounds good, and you'd think it would work.
But I can't get it to actually work. Renaming folderItems has always
seemed to me to be dodgy, and in this case even ni'ing out the
folderitem, reopening it, and renaming it doesn't work. This strikes
me as a pretty serious bug (everyone expects to be able to use file
names > 31 chars). I'll play around with it some more and file a bug
report (as many others have done before me, but I'll try to add new
information if I can).
