I'm not a lawyer but it seems to me that what Dr.Steinman is trying to do
would fall under the provisions since he is attempting to create an
application that has some level of interoperability with RB.

The problem here is can you afford to test the case in a court ?
Anyone want to take on MS and whether or not their license agreements are enforceable ?
Or Apple ? Or REAL ?

Can you afford the lengthy lawsuit it would take, appeals, etc ?

Unfortunately the cost of testing this might be so prohibitive that the person with the deepest pockets wins
