I'd probably prefer them to make an optimizing compiler that can generate code close to at least the common GCC optimizations. I'd rather stay in REALbasic as much as possible, even for the computationally expensive portions of code, if it were possible.
Now how realistic is that? I'm not sure. But I think if Mars was given the time, he could do just about anything, so maybe after this UB / RBScript stuff has settled back in he can start working his magic there.
Getting back on topic a bit, it is completely possible to do a fairly quick image differential in pure RB code. We do it now. I'm going to talk to my team and see if that part is easy to extract from our commercial product, and if so, I'll post it.
