You could for one use the Einhugur GraphicsFormat plugin to serialize a
Picture to and from a BLOB (stored as either PNG or JPEG stream).
Or save it first to disk and then to the BLOB that way not using a plugin.
Or find other 3rd parties that have similar solutions.
