I would suggest (although I'm not shure wether I understood correctly your
problem or not) to have something like this:

* Two tabpanels, both of same size and place. The first one will be the one
that will allow the user to customize options for your 'old' printing
formats.

* The second tabpanel will be used by the user to customize options for your
new printing format.

* On top of those two tabpanels, just place two radio buttons (or a menu
button or whatever you will feel relevant). If you select the first radio
button, just hide tabpanel2, and show tabpanel1. If you select the second
radiobutton, hide tabpanel1, and show tabpanel2.
