You might consider hosting your downloadable files with Amazon's S3 service. They charge only 20 cents US per gigabyte and there is definitely no limit and no problems with performance or reliability. You can host your web site wherever you like, just point the download links for your software to your Amazon S3 bucket. Another alternative (with perhaps somewhat faster downloads for Europe than S3 offers) is Cachefly (http://www.cachefly.com/). Their entry level plan for 30 GB per month costs $15. They are specifically geared toward handling spikes in bandwidth, so they will also definitely not hassle you or limit you. If you go over the 30 GB limit, they just charge you an additional 49 cents per gigabyte -- the same per gigabyte rate, in other words. I have used both of these services.
