I use dreamhost.com and could not be happier. They offer me (the offer I took) 2 TB transfer, and even with two applications out there, I am still using less than 0% of available bandwith.

If you sign up with dreamhost, type the text Trausti when asked, and you get a big discount.

You might consider hosting your downloadable files with Amazon's S3 service. They charge only 20 cents US per gigabyte and there is definitely no limit and no problems with performance or reliability. You can host your web site wherever you like, just point the download links for your software to your
Amazon S3 bucket.

Another alternative (with perhaps somewhat faster downloads for Europe than S3 offers) is Cachefly (http://www.cachefly.com/). Their entry level plan for 30 GB per month costs $15. They are specifically geared toward handling spikes in bandwidth, so they will also definitely not hassle you or limit you. If you go over the 30 GB limit, they just charge you an additional 49
cents per gigabyte -- the same per gigabyte rate, in other words.

I have used both of these services. Either one will allow you to handle bandwidth spikes with ease -- you could have 1,000 people downloading your application at the exact same time and there would be no slowdown in speed
for any of the thousand people, no refused connections, etc.

Walt
