I think you are mistaken.
As far as I understand, either you buy a client like I have, $200+
for win AND Mac, or you buy VDN and get the server for a little more,
that is no limits on deployement, just one fee. Sounds like a much
better deal Valentina has.
Plus, you get an awesome OOP Framework for your project to interact
directly with the database instead of using RB DB.
Seems like MySQL is the dog here.

use MySQL. It's just me though.
Valentina wins hands down for single user, embedded server type
stuff. If I ever found a need for an embedded server, I'd try
Valentina over the built in RS option any day, but my work does not
lean in that direction.

So I choose MySQL.
But it is not on par with Valentina on licensing - where the
licensing hurts
most with mySQL. We specifically designed the Valentina license to be
competitive with mySQL.
You can distribute Valentina Embedded Server in its default mode
royalty
free and in unlimited quantities. Connections are not named. There
are
enough connections there to serve the SMB marketplace and not have
to pay
any more. Plus, there is an "infinite" version of Embedded Server
that is on
a per deployment basis.
