Is the comp.lang.basic.realbasic group quite active ?

Not really. Not many people use NNTP anymore. (I'm not sure why -- I
find them even easier to browse than mailing lists, which of course are
way easier than forums. But young'uns these days mostly don't even
know what NNTP is!)

However, I do follow that group and will continue to do so, so you can
always reach me there. Aaron has also been helpful on that group in
recent past, and hopefully will continue to do so.

'cept that if we all jump on this NNTP bandwagon, it'll probably collapse under its own (bandwidth) weight! :)

I would be
happy to see join ONE list providing it was generally accepted as the
new "de facto" and enough of the regular "gurus" and contributors (
including the regular RS crew- Mars, Jon,Aaron ) were out there too.

I think it's a bit much to expect the RS team to hang out on a
fan-sponsored mailing list, if the word from on high is that the forums
are the One True Way to communicate with users. However, it's already
clear from the reaction here that many of the "gurus" on this list will
be moving to a new home.

Except that people have to want to be there (virtually, anyway...). No people = no communication = no forum. RS should have gone the other way and consolidated the forum into the NUG instead (except that - for simplicity - it would be read-only on the email side; if you wanted to post, you'd have to go to the forum, but at least you'd be able to follow the 'discussions' via email as now.) And it seems - based on the responses so far - that RB users on this NUG don't want to be there (too slow, too klunky, hard to search, pull vs. push, etc...)
