It is clear the consensus of this list is this is one of the
most "boneheaded" moves you have ever made. I am sorry to have to
use such a derogatory term as "boneheaded" but but I think the
shoe fits in this case and other individuals have used this term.

Do you really think that wording it this was is going to get a CEO
to take you seriously? Even if you truly believe this in your
heart, it's at least equally ill-advised as closing the lists
are to some.

You attract more flies with honey than vinegar.

This is what I meant when I felt everyone should take a deep
breath before going wild.

Sure, Geoff can probably look past the comment, but don't forget
CEO's are human too.

With all due respect, I am only reflecting what other people have
said. People have been offended by this announcement and they are
expressing what they feel. If this announcement is "boneheaded,"
then why not call it what it is since RS is the one who suddenly
dumped it on us without any consultation whatsoever. If Geoff is
going to reverse this decision, he will have to take
responsibility for the poor judgement involved. This is not
something that he can hide from. Probably in most people's eyes
the term boneheaded is probably a very kind way of stating the
reality of the situation and they are thinking of much more
expressive terms. So the use of the term boneheaded fits the
reasoning behind the situation and is actually a restrained
response.

What term would you use to describe throwing away your core
experts, tarnishing your reputation, and losing a few paying
customers? Nothing about this decision is of benefit to the RS
community or RS itself. Time has run out and soft pedaling it will
not win any converts either. Sometimes the arrow has to penetrate
the heart and sting before something is done. People are upset and
if as you say, "Geoff can probably look past the comment" meaning
he ignores it, then he would be minimizing how the community feels
about this situation and that would be an even greater insult.
Killing the NUG is a slap in the face and how could it
be construed otherwise? You can't fix what you don't acknowledge
and Geoff has to acknowledge just how irritated people are by this
decision if he is going to respond to us in truth.

This mess is of RS's own making and it is up to them to clean it
up.
