Users cannot customize their toolbar, as with standard Mac OS X
toolbars.

The toolbars in REALbasic are only half-baked on each platform. If
you are targeting multiple platforms, they are your solution. If you
are only targeting Mac OS X, you'll want real Mac OS X toolbars
(which support customization) from my website at <http://
www.thezaz.com/> - free, documentation included.

My classes are also not perfect, however and are certainly very
strange to use, but consider it in weighing your options. I have also
used the Toolbar classes by Everyday Software and liked them pretty
well. They are now owned by somebody else though. I know Electric
Butterfly had them for a while, and recently seized control to
another party.
