Subject: Monitoring Encoders

Hey Everyone,

Anyone know of a good way to monitor the encoders, we have a few problems
with 24x7 reliability of our encoders, we are encoding a few radio stations
and would like to know when the encoder bites the dust.

We have moved as many as possible to linux to help alleve the problem but we
have a few with radio cards that I am having a heck of a time getting to
work under linux. Also isn't there a option to force a udp connection, are
there any drawbacks to encoding via udp instead of TCP so that if the link
gets interrupted that it'll continue to stream if the link comes back up?

Thanks,
