Subject: Re: Monitoring Encoders
Hi John
If "when the encoder bites the dust" means a pop-up is displaying
something like "Server Not Responding" click OK, then I can suggest a
Windows NT solution for you. Perhaps a similar product exists for
linux??
A utility called Buzof by Basta Computing http://www.basta.com can
monitor the screen and set to recognize when a Real encoder is
displaying the dialog that needs OK clicked and then "Start Encoding"
clicked after that.
Like you, we run 24x7 radio -- 13 concurrent streams in all and this
utility has been a real time saver for us. It's shareware and costs
about $15 per piece(even got a discount for purchasing 13 licenses.)
Currently we run v1.44 and it's set to scan the screen every one
second.
Despite my natural and probably asinine aversion to using little
ditty free- or shareware utilities, Buzof has been totally reliable
with almost a year of use and hasn't been a nuisance to anything else
running on the system.
