I'm working with embedded SMIL presentations. I've recently been
experimenting with embedding chat software onto the same page as the
presentation to test if there are any conflicts.
The most successful was working with ICQ's new surfin plugin. This allows
all persons currently viewing any particular web page to converse in a chat
window. The drawback was the software is beta and is prone to crashing on
some systems. It is not harmful and can be closed.
Embedded webcam picture with chat interface to operator... very slow.
Sometimes data could take 5 seconds to replicate on the other users
machine.
Java chat applets. Most didn't work at all, others also very slow and prone
to lockup.
There is no way at present to include a two way interface through the
realserver

Does anyone know if Real Networks plan to implement a chat feature in
RealServer for viewers of the same webcast to converse? Anyone done it
before with existing chat software?
