Hello SETP project is aiming at defining open virtual environment protocol. Toni Alatalo posted to one of our review threads at gamedev.net and left link to this group. I know realXtend is a spearhead in virtual environment development and I thought some of you might be interested in joining this intellectual exercise. Whether SETP will provide merely ideas and examples to industry or evolve to implemented protocol depends on general interest and need for this kind of independent specification effort. It would be interesting to hear your thoughts about this project. For example is it needed and if so whether the direction and focus are correct. You can read more at:
http://wiki.setp.info/wiki A short quote from the wiki: The goal of this wiki is to define minimal and easy to implement open protocol for present day distributed 3D environments: social 3d environments, online games and first person shooters. Distributed 3d environments are in this context systems with multiple thin clients and servers simulating single seemless virtual environment. sincerely, Tommi Laukkanen http://questforvr.blogspot.com/ --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ http://groups.google.com/group/realxtend -~----------~----~----~----~------~----~------~--~---
