There is something odd about logins and it depends on the operating system.
I'm investigating a situation on my home network where I can login from any client system to servers running on a Windows XP system, but I cannnot login to servers running on a Vista 32-bit or 64-bit system. (This applies to Vista even when the client and server are on the same system.) All systems are running the Windows Live OneCare firewall and all appropriate ports are open. Disabling the firewall has no effect. The authentication server reports the login request, but the client reports that there is no response from servername:10001. I assume that a similar problem may be occurring on Windows Server 2008 systems. To ensure consistency in my experiments I use a script which changes all the IP address in configuration files and database tables to the IP address of the target system. I think I'll have to run the system under the debugger to get to the bottom of this. -- Peter On Feb 4, 8:58 am, Mikko Pallari <[email protected]> wrote: > > The second issue, is he is using the incorrect port number (should be port > > 9000) and I've told him this several times over and over again (but he > > continues to type 10001 for some strange reason). > > This is not entirely true, port 10001 is used in Authentication server and > port 9000 in simulator. > > ______________________________ > Mikko Pallari > > ADMINO > technologieswww.adminotech.com<http://www.adminotech.com/>www.realxtend.org<http://www.realxtend.org/> > > From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On > Behalf Of Mark Malewski > Sent: 4. helmikuuta 2009 14:36 > To: [email protected] > Subject: [REX] Re: login problem > > This is "Operator Error". > > I've already discussed the issues with Zishu, but he fails to listen. > > The problem is Zishu is on an internal LAN (school) that is utilizing some > form of "F-Secure" software firewall/campus antivirus software, and the > realXtend viewer seems to be unable to get out to the internet properly (he > is unable to disable the software firewall/antivirus because of security > settings imposed by the school/network administrators). > > I don't see any way around this issue, other than going off campus.
