The appearance is stored locally in the viewer. If you can log, at the same time, with an other viewer, you can verify if really your appearance was modified o, instead, only was stored in your viewer. If this is the reallity, than you didn't changed your appearance, the problem is than the comunication between your services, (authentication, avatarstorage and rexserver), are not working correctly.
