  You were right - running as administrator solved the problem of log 
in. Two things right off
the bat, though:

 1) The only textures showing are those of the avatar. Everything else 
is textureless

 2) Not sure if you have an FPS meter but it seems a tad slow when I 
rotate around compared w/
      the SL viewer. This could be due to in part to #1 since missing 
textures will create a higher
      # of polygons that normally would be invisible.

The world I have is about 12,000 prims so, fairly dense.... and a good 
test for your viewer
