APPLE ROLLS

1 1/2 c. self-rising flour
3 tbsp. shortening
2 c. water
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 stick butter
3 c. fresh chopped apples
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon

To make pastry, mix flour, shortening and enough milk to moisten mix and chill.

Heat water, sugar, vanilla and butter in 300 degree oven until boiling. Roll 
pastry in a circle. Mix apples, brown sugar and cinnamon. Spread over pastry
and roll up as jelly roll. Slice in 1 inch slices. Drop into hot mixture. Bake 
1 hour until golden brown at 300 degrees.
