Basic Bread Dough

Makes 2 loaves.

2 (1/4-oz.) packets of yeast

2 cups warm water

6 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, divided

1/2 cup sugar

2 tsps. salt

1/2cup melted butter

1 egg

1. Mix yeast with 2 cups warm water.

2. Combine 2 cups of flour, sugar and salt. Add melted butter

and egg. Then add in yeast with water. Mix well. Add remaining

flour slowly.

3. Knead 5-8 minutes, then set dough aside, cover and let rise

in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.

4. Continue making sausage bread as specified in recipe above.

For plain bread, divide dough in two, place in 2 greased

loaf pans, let dough rise again for about 1 hour and bake at

350 degrees for 35 to 45 minutes, or until loaves are nicely

browned.

Note: This makes good cinnamon rolls or pull-apart cinnamon

bread. Just make small to medium balls out of half of a recipe

of the basic bread dough or 1 loaf of frozen bread dough, thawed.

Roll the balls in cinnamon and sugar. Then place in a well

greased Bundt pan with about 1/2 cup of cinnamon sugar and

several pats of butter on top.

Bake at 350 degrees until golden brown, about 35-40 minutes.

You can remove from pan immediately and drizzle a simple

icing on top.
