Apple Brown Betty Bread

Ingredients:
(1 1/2 lb loaf)
1 1/4 cup buttermilk
2 tbl unsweetened applesauce
2 cup whole wheat flour
1 cup bread flour or unbleached white
flour
1/3 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
1 tbl oat bran
1 tbl crushed wheat cereal or bulgur
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp baking soda
2 tbl brown sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1 pch freshly ground nutmeg
4 tsp butter
2 tsp active dry yeast
1/3 cup lightly floured raisins
Method:
Pour buttermilk and applesauce into bread machine.
In a mixing bowl or large 4-cup measure, combine and stir together
flours, oats, bran, wheat cereal, salt, soda, sugar, cinnamon and
nutmeg. Pour mixture into bread machine.
Place 1 tsp butter into each corner of bread machine container. Make a
well in the center of dry ingredients and add yeast into it.
Set machine for 1 1/2 lb loaf. At signal, add raisins.

during apple harvest - a crunchy cinnamonny apple and oatmeal treat."
She combined her Grandma's recipe and a favorite buttermilk soda bread
to come up with this tasty bread machine loaf.
