California Gold Rush Bars
Ingredients
1 cup     each brown sugar, butter or margarine 
1            egg 
1 tsp.     vanilla 
1-3/4 cups  flour 
1 cup     chopped walnuts 
1/2 cup       apricot jam 
Directions
       Heat oven to 325º F. (165º C).  Cream sugar,
butter, egg and vanilla.  Stir in flour and nuts.  Spoon half of
batter into a greased 9x9" pan.  Spread jam over batter.  Spread
remaining batter on top of jam.  Bake at 325° F. for 50 minutes. 
Cool at least 10 minutes before slicing.
