Hi Tim,
It's probably because my comments are not long or clear enough
sometimes. I know Australia doesn't have the death penalty and I know
why - I was living here at the time. I remember the govt banning the
playing of the Tom Jones song - 'The green, green grass of home'.
Still, I wonder how many Indigenous Australians would agree that we
don't have a death penalty since so many are dying in the jails even
though large numbers are there for trivial reasons.
My comment about it being not so different from Australia referred to
the fact that many innocent people here also end up in jail and for the
same reasons. Some of those people never come out of jail again and even
though we don't have an official death penalty, the result, in many
cases, is the same.
