I've noticed a very obvious underlying theme here on this site.
It seems to me that the problem is you seem to tarnish the police service
with the same brush!!!
Isn't that being a bit prejudiced?
If as most of you seem to think that all police are racist etc - then why do
Aboriginal people join? They are more than entitled to and they are openly
accepted into the Service.
Not everyone in the police is racist. Same as not everyone in the world is
racist.
Let's turn the tables here: How many police officers do you people know and
have spoken to personally? Do you know what life is like for them out on the
streets everyday dealing with the scumbags they usually face? The
possibility of getting shot, injected, punched, abused, spat at, etc-how do
they feel? Do you know what it is like for their families not knowing if
their loved ones will come home tonight?????

I get shot down for my subsequent disregard for answers to my questions -
then how is it when I have posed some questions people have ignored them or
brushed them aside? Goes both ways.

Ben and Ian,

I can understand your frustration and anger at Karen's inability or
refusal to understand the extent of discrimination against Aboriginal
Australians and their subsequent disadvantage. She displays the thinking
of many in the police force.

Although, Ben, I don't see your objection - as an insult - to having the
NT mandatory sentencing act posted. I see it as information gained and a
chance to 'know our enemy'.

I know that Karen's continued 'questions' and subsequent disregard of
any answers she gets, gets up a lot of people's noses and we wish to be
rid of her. So far, there are two of you and I am sure there are a few
more that haven't said anything yet - but will soon, I am sure.

I have made suggestions before to those who cannot handle having Karen
on the list - put her in a killfile or filter or don't add fire to the
flames by responding to her 'questions'. Some people have done this and
are no longer aggravated by Karen's posts except when someone responds
and her post goes through the filter.

I know this is not the answer you want from me but I have a few
questions of my own....

--If not for breach of the rules, when do we kick someone off?
--Every time someone says something we don't like or agree with?
--How many of the 'we' would it take?
--Where do we draw the line on what is said?
--How much do we believe in freedom of speech?
--How do we try to change 60% of the Australian public when we can't
handle just one of them on the list?

I am amenable to adding a rule about racist statements but it will have
to be worked out exactly what that entails (no vagueness) and voted on -
simple majority of list membership will do.

What do you say?

Trudy
