I turned the table because so often it gets pointed my way and I wanted to
finally know what you guys were thinking.
Trudy, I wasn't actually directing it at you personally - I was using what
you said and highlighting a pattern I have noticed. Hardly an e-mail goes by
without someone dogging the cops. I'd like to know why? You may have said
many police but I'm yet to hear a positive comment. And your comment saying
that those who show humanity don't last very long because compatriots habit
of hounding them to leave seems very outdated. Though your comment basically
sounds like you say that there are no good ones because they've all been
pushed out!! It sounds like a contradiction.

The scumbags they usually face. Prejudice? I don't see how - If you've seen
a lot of the people they deal with I can't see that you'd be calling them
model citizens. No, not all of them are scumbags, I never said all, but
there are a lot of terrible people out there they have to deal with. Good
people usually don't break the law.

So just as people have attacked me for supposeldy not knowing the lives and
situations of Aboriginals, you really haven't met any positive nice police
officers. Or do you choose not to even find out?

I just find it very disheartening when everyone seems to want to point the
finger at police officers for everything that goes wrong. You also have to
remember that there may be a lot of things in a case/situation which you'll
never know - you'll never get the full 100% story because of protocols and
procedures and legal bindings. There are just some things you will never
know.

Karen,

You always turn the tables when you don't want to address an issue.

I said your thinking was like *many* police - not all.
I didn't say anything at all about racism, you did. Interesting!
To me, it is very revealing that you dehumanise the people police come
into contact with as 'scumbags'. That doesn't leave much room for
anything but prejudice, does it?

As for knowing police, my experience has been that those who show a
smidgen of humanity towards those in 'breach of the law' - not matter
how trivial - usually don't last very long. Their 'compatriots' have a
habit of hounding them until they leave.
