well, i've tested it a bit more, trying different versions of red5 war
and have come to this:
the problem appears in any version, however if you let the videos play
to the end, then disconnect,
then shut down the browser and start it again it seems to workd fine,
the problem occures when
you switch videos while playing the stream, connect/disconnect
frequently, then the streams do not
show up, even if you restart the server(whole debian thing), the only
solution is to undeploy the war,
then deploy it once again, restart the server, restart the browser on
the client, none of this i have experienced
with the standalone version of red5.
