We had a poor experience running RedDot on a Windows-based VM.
Performance for SmartEdit users was unacceptable once we had 3 or more
concurrent users.

Experienced the poor performance regardless of how many other VM were
running on the host server - Originally we had 3, and had just RedDot
running on a VM before moving it to a dedicated server.

The VM Host had 16G of ram, 4 dual core processors - didn't seem to
make a difference how much processor and ram that our admins made
available to the VM, we were unable to achieve a satisfactory level of
performance.

We now run RedDot CMS on a dedicated Windows 2003 platform, Quad 3GHz
Xeon, 2G ram
We do experience slowdowns when publishing jobs run, but these are
brief - and we typically schedule jobs to run outside of work hours to
minimize impact on editors.
