This is resolved now, so in the continued spirit of answering my own questions:
The problem related to the LS publishing target not having the correct liveserver connection specified. This was probably as a result of the liveserver connection having to be recreated after the reinstall. Under the publishing target settings, the selected liveserver was "(Default)". In that drop-down menu, the newly-created liveserver connection was available, and selecting that resolved the problem.
