I've seen that message all too many times in the past. As Andreas says, 
normally it will happen when you import a project from another server where the 
users are missing on the new system.  It can also happen when your Reddot 
server is connected to Active Directory sadly. If an account is changed or 
reset in AD it can sometimes generate it a different system ID; which means 
Reddot thinks the account has vanished. Suddenly everything being edited by 
that user is now locked to an unknown user... 

We saw this a lot when our server team were moving users between realms within 
AD as that effectively deletes and recreates the account. AD can track that 
change as it's doing the changes; external systems don't always understand what 
just happened.
