What version of CMS and the text editor (if you know) are you using?

In general, it's frowned upon to put a lot of code in the text editor.
This is because each text editor we've used in the past has been
"helpful" by cleaning up code that shouldn't be there. This is useful
when you have code copied from MS Word and would like to remove some
of those tags, but not helpful when you want to do something like
you've mentioned. Each text editor we've used has behaved slightly
different and generally they've gotten better with the newer versions.

When you would like to do something like you've mentioned above, the
safest bet is to create templates for it. The code in templates is
never manipulated. I can provide a sample if you'd like to go down
this route.

If you would like to keep the jump list in the text editor, then I
would recommend using the buttons for the WYSIWYG editor to be sure
the format of the source code is correct.
