Hello Hilmar, Thank you for sharing your experience. We are using LDAP and definitely want to preserve the user GUIDs. As we learn more, I will share it with the group.
Thanks. Therefore, we need to start from scratch, and also wish to upgrade to V. 11 (plus latest hotfix). Our plan is to install V.11 on the new server and then to "import" our exported projects from the old server into the new server and new database. That is definitely a good idea. Quite a few people have discussed upgrading to V.11. Has anyone done a full export of projects from one environment into another. It is our understanding that user GUID's can be retained in the export. If anyone has advice about which objects can be exported and which cannot, that will help in our planning. We need to know which objects may need to be re-created from scratch. For example, we have some assets that are stored outside of the database. But, what about Authorization Groups, publication targets, and other objects? Everything, that is within projects will be created as expected. If you export and import the administrative settings the users will be moved as well. Are you using LDAP accounts? We are having some issues with users that we moved from the V10 to V11 as the user guids are changed with every new import. The assets can be copied on the filesystem. If you copy them in the same directory you can just activate them, otherwise you need to change the directory.
