How about an ikea (modular) wardrobe?

You have the same carcass (base template)... then you have inner division walls 
(layout templates) that determines the general layout for example a top shelf, 
two section the the middle one 50cm and the other 100cm, and a bottom shelf 
(that is usually used for shoes).

You can add different modules (module templates) to it (shelves, trouser 
hangers, hanger rails, drawers, baskets, etc...) which can be arranged in 
various combinations (but can be limited so that drawers are only fitted to the 
50cm side only)...
Also some areas may get stuff/clothes (content) put directly into them...



I used this example in delivering training a few times and it seems to work.
