Thanks all for the replies. It doesn't help but the situation,
per se, but it is nice to know it isn't just MY system.

I'll also give this a try. Have you noticed anything else
similar to what I describe, ie, if you hit stop when in the
middle of loading a page does netscape just sit there (and
sit there and sit there) doing JACK SQUAT for a long time and
lose netscape window refreshes? Give this a try to see:
start loading a page, hit stop (does your cursor, while over
the netscape window remain a clock for a long time?), and
then either move the netscape window a little OR bring something
else, like an xterm window to the front and move it around on
top of the netscape window. Does it leave behind a blank
netscape window in its wake?
