No, that won't fix the problem at all. First, you have to find the
Netscape Application Defaults ("app-defaults") file. So lets go about
this two ways: installed via RPM and not installed via RPM. I want you
to read both sections, though, so that I don't have to go over some
things twice.
1. Non-RPM
If you installed Netscape the normal way (i.e. not RPM) into
"/usr/local/netscape", then the app-defaults file can be found at
"/usr/local/netscape/Netscape.ad". This is a _really_ big file
containing all of Netscape's settings, most of which (if any) cannot be
controlled through the Preferences dialog box. So if you ever want to
change anything else in Netscape, this is the place to look. Open up
this file with a searchable text editor - something like pico. Search
for "Netscape*XmTextField.fontList:". This should bring you right to
the following resource:
Netscape*XmTextField.fontList: \
-adobe-courier-medium-r-*-*-*-120-*-*-*-*-iso8859-*
Except in the file it will all be on one line. But that doesn't
matter. Now, I want you to copy that line into your ".Xdefaults" file
in your home directory and then close the "Netscape.ad" file without
saving any changes (if you're not root, you won't be able to
anyways...). Done that? Good. Now, go back to your .Xdefaults file
and the line you just inserted. See the "120" in there? Change that to
(it's already at 12 point - isn't that big enough? :-) ) something like
"140". That will be _really_ big. I've got mine set to 110. Now save
and close the .Xdefaults file and execute the following command while in
the top level of your home directory:
[user@computername ~]$ xrdb -merge .Xdefaults
This will load in the new resource. Quit Netscape (if you haven't
already), re-open it, and the font in the URL window _should_ be
larger. If it isn't, contact me at "[EMAIL PROTECTED]".
2. RPM
Now, you could just put the same resource as above into your .Xdefaults
file and go from there (and in fact, that's what you should do - the
resource will be the same), but first you ought to know where the
app-defaults file is if you installed Netscape from an RPM. The
app-defaults file should be at
"/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/app-defaults/Netscape". If it isn't, do a search
for "Netscape".
If you have any further problems, send me an email.
