Uh, oh.  I do believe I've been hearing this "Clank of Doom" from my
recently purchased WD 4.3.  It still seems to be working ok most of the
time, but it is definitely freaking out on occasion.  Oh, well...thank
goodness for 3 year warranties.

And I can remember a time when Seacrate was the drive to avoid...I guess
maybe it's time to give Seagate another shot.  Or maybe I'll go the
extra coinage and get an IBM drive for my soon to be built new machine. 
I've heard nothing but good things about IBM drives lately.

BTW-Anybody got any ideas about where to look for error messages from
the drive (i.e. system logs or something)?  I'd like to know what the
system it getting when the drive has it's little episodes.
